Every year my daughter and I make these cute, melt in your mouth cookies. Yum!
Spritz Butter Cookies
2 1/2 cups of flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup butter (softened)
1 1/4 cups confectioners sugar
2 egg yolks
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Food coloring and sugar sprinkles (optional)
Sift together flour and salt. Set aside. Cream together butter and sugar. Stir in egg yolks and vanilla extract. Gradually blend in the sifted flour. Add food coloring if desired. Fill a cookie press with dough and shot the cookies about 1 1/2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Decorate with sugar sprinkles is desired. Bake for 6 to 8 minutes in a pre-heated 400 degree oven.
This makes approximately 36 cookies. We always double or triple the recipe.
Here is a page I made about these cookies about two years ago

Thank you for sharing this recipe - I have the cookie press thingy and I have never made these before. I told the kids just the other day that this year we would be adding these to our baking tradition. Now I have a recipe that I know will be good! :)
I don't have a cookie press, think I can just drop them? Or are they better to roll? I would love to try these!
What cookie press do you have Jayne? I have the Pampered Chef one and I want to burn it.
Stacey - I have never tried dropping them but I am sure it would work :)
Megan - I have a super cheap one I got for free with my baking sheets one year. My arm is killing me by the end of all the cookies...
OH no! Megan, you dont like the Pampered Chef press?? I have it but have never used it. I thought about trying it with this recipe for our Santa cookies! Any trick I need to know?
Thanks for the recipe Jayne! I am sure "Santa" will enjoy them!!
